Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a group of rare inherited muscle diseases in which muscle fibers are unusually susceptible to damage.

Symptoms and signs of Muscular dystrophy

  • Many people with myotonic dystrophy seem to require more sleep than the average person,
  • The cardiac problems in this disease can be serious and should be followed carefully by a physician,
  • Labor and delivery may be complicated by muscle abnormalities in the uterus, and the obstetrician should be informed about a patient's myotonic dystrophy status and care,
  • muscle weakness
  • affects the central nervous system,
  • affects the heart,
  • affects the gastrointestinal tract,
  • affects the eyes (causing cataracts) and
  • affects the endocrine (hormone-producing) glands.
