Canker Sores

   

Canker sores form inside the mouth and on the lips. It is a painfull no contagious sores. This are generally red and may sometimes have a white coating over them, it also known as a aphthous stomatitis but is not cancerous. It also develop on the soft tissues in mouth like under tongue, inside cheeks or lips and at the base of gums but not on the surface of lips. Canker sores are very painfull and can make eating and talking difficult.

Canker Sores are usually classified into three types;

  • Minor sores - It have a diameter between 1 to 10mm and they are common like 80% of all canker sores.
  • Major sores - It have a diameter of greater than 10mm and they are 10% of all canker sores.
  • Herpetiform sores - It have a diameter of less than 3mm and they are also 10% of all canker sores.

Causes for canker sores

  • Lack of vitamin B12, iron
  • Stress
  • Allergies
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Vitamin deficiency
  • Hormonal changes

How to treat for canker sores

  • Give a mixture of same quantity of milk of magnesia and allergy liquid, take 1 tbs. of this mixture and you can swish your mouth for about 1 minute and then spit it out.
  • Take a mixture of 2 ounces of hydrogen peroxide and same amount of water as well as a mixture of 5 milliliters of salt, 1 tbs. of baking soda and 4 ounces of water, now swish this mixture in your mouth for about a 1 minute and then spit it out.
  • Regularly brush your teeth and visit the dentist for teeth care then to prevent the bacterial infection.
  • Carboxymethylcellulose and viscous lidocaine are very useful in the treatment for canker sores and also rinse the mouth with salty water.

Dietary tips for canker sores

  • Take vitamin C or B complex, using a sage and chamomile mouthwash as well as take a lysine supplement helps their canker sores heal faster.
  • Give a mixture of peroxide and glycerin, after clean from them.
  • Take a healthy vegetables, plenty of fruits and whole grains. It can be eating regularly because it contains acidophilus or other beneficial bacteria.
  • Take a chicken, cheeses, nuts and milk because they are provide calcium and phosphorus.
  • Take a high water content food because this food dilutes the effects of the sugars and stimulate the flow of saliva but poor food choices, they contain large amounts of sugar and can stick to teeth, providing a fuel source for bacteria.
  • Avoid a gum chewing.

Medical treatment for canker sores

  • Take a tetracycline suspensions and use of it as a mouthwash.
  • Before meals and at a bed time take a viscous lidocaine to numb the sores.
  • Take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, chemotherapeutic agents, beta blockers and use it to the treatment for canker sores.
  • Cimetidine, colchicine, dapsone, pentoxifylline, debacterol are useful in the treatment for canker sores because it decreases acid production by the stomach.
