Hiccough - symptom, cause, treatment, cure and home remedy of Hiccough

   

Because of a certain excitement in the sinews a condition arises in which a diaphragmatic spasm causes a sudden inhalation which is interrupted by a spasmodic closure of the glottis. This condition is known as hiccough.

Hiccough occurs because of dyspepsia but sometimes it may be a symptom of a serious disease. In case of sinewy disorders it may be symptom of diseases like epilepsy, brain oedema, encephalitis lethargica and hysteria. Hiccoughs are common if the patient suffers from nephrites and uraemia. They disappear in tetanus, hydrophobia and strychnine poisoning.


Natural Home remedies for the treatment of Hiccough

Herbal home remedy for hiccough using Salt : (1) Grind rock salt, black salt and common salt in equal quantity. Take 1/2 tsp. of it mixed in hot water. It will provide relief from hiccoughs. Do not take it if you have been advised not to take salt because of other ailments.

(2) Boil 60 gms. mustard powder in 1/2 litre of water. When it is reduced to one-fourth quantity, add rock salt to taste and drink it. It will provide relief from hiccoughs.

(3) Dissolve rock salt in water. Put a few drops in the nostrils. This will help in treating hiccoughs.

Homemade recipes for hiccough

Simple home remedy for hiccough using Lemon : Mix a tsp. each of lemon juice and honey and add black salt to taste. Take it every twenty minutes till you get relief from hiccoughs.

Black gram : Put whole black gram on burning coal and fire and inhale the fumes.This will help in reducing hiccough.

Good home remedy for hiccough using Honey : Mix honey with onion juice and lick it. Licking only honey will also provide the necessary relief.

Jaggery : Grind old jaggery, mix ginger powder and inhale the smell. This is beneficial for the treatment of hiccough.

How to get rid of hiccough - Getting rid of hiccough

Effective home remedy for hiccough using Ginger : (1) Grind dried ginger in water and inhale the smell. It will stop hiccoughs.

(2) Grind dried ginger, amla, long pepper and sugar candy and take 3 gms. of it with honey. It will be beneficial.

(3) Sucking on small ginger pieces provides immediate relief from hiccoughs.

Home Remedies and Cures for hiccough

Natural home remedy for hiccough - Drinking a little bit of hot clarified butter puts an end to hiccoughs. Mix rock salt in clarified butter or water and inhale the smell. It will stop hiccoughs.

Herbal home remedy for hiccough - Pierce a black-peppercorn with a needle and burn it. Then inhale the fumes. It puts an end to hiccoughs.

Traditional natural home remedy for hiccough - Boil 10 gms. mustard seeds in 1/4 litre of water, strain and drink it when it is lukewarm. It will provide relief from all types of hiccoughs.

Diet tips for hiccough

Onion: Eating sliced onion with salt provides relief from hiccoughs.

Radish: Eating four radish leaves stops hiccoughs.

Mint leaves: If hiccoughs do not stop, suck on mint leaves or a piece of lemon. You may chew a few mint leaves with some sugar.

Soda water: Drinking a bottle of soda water will provide relief from hiccoughs.

Cinnamon: Chew some Cinnamon. It will treats hiccoughs.

Cardamom: Chewing Cardamom puts an end to hiccoughs.

Sugarcane: Drinking sugar cane juice provides relieve from hiccoughs.

Milk : Drinking hot milk puts an end to hiccough.
