Milk - Benefits, Medicinal and Health Uses of Milk

Milk is the nutritive fluid secreted by the glands mammaires of the mammals females (monotremes including). The female capacity to produce milk is one of the defining characteristics of the mammals. It provides the primary source of nutrition for theborn ones before they can digest more various foods. The first milk of lactation is known like colostrum, and carries the antibodies of the mother to the baby. It can reduce the risk by many diseases in the mother and the baby.

Milk benefits and uses

  • Prevents osteoporosis
  • Fights infections especially diarrhea
  • Modifies upset stomach from harsh foods and drugs
  • Prevents peptic ulcers
  • Prevents cavities
  • Drinking milk also helps reduce the incidence of tooth decay. There is no evidence to support the theory that drinking chocolate milk aids in tooth decay, and as a result, allowing children to drink chocolate milk increases their consumption of milk.
  • Prevents chronic bronchitis
  • Increases mental energy
  • Lowers high blood pressure
  • Lowers blood cholesterol
  • Inhibits certain cancers
  • Treat yourself to a luxurious foamy milk bath. Toss 1/2 cup or so of powdered milk into the tub as it fills. Milk acts as a natural skin softener.
  • To remove ink stains from colored clothes, an overnight milk bath will often do the trick. Just soak the affected garment in milk overnight and launder as usual the next day.

Clearly lactose intolerant individuals need to supplement with a non-dairy product. But for everyone else, we should shy away from drinking milk. We did it when we were 5, and we can definitely do it when we are 80. The benefits of drinking milk stay the same!

tip of the day

Potatoes are a good source of vitamins A and C. Contrary to popular belief, potatoes themselves are not high in calories. It is all those high-fat ingredients cooked with or served with the potato that can be fattening. To add flavour to your potato dishes without all the calories, try fresh herbs and spices, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, skim ricotta cheese, or low-fat sauces..
