Can Eating lunch sharpen the mind?

9. Eating lunch boosts cognitive performance?

True or false. Whether a mid day meal sharpens or dulls your thinking depends on how much you eat. A light lunch or snack can temporarily boost mental acuity, according to a few small studies. But a large lunch, espe cially one very high in fat or carbohydrates, can increase the sluggishness that normally develops in the early afternoon. (In contrast, a big breakfast does not seem to make people sleepy, perhaps because the natural tendency toward alertness in the morning obscures that effect.)
